August 22, 2009 at 6:32 am (faith, Family, frustrations, miscellaneous, nightlife, random, spiritual)

It’s been a period of time since I came back to do some blogging.

What a time and place for me to be blogging – when I am admitted for observation in TTSH for a suspect of appendicitis. Bleh.

There’s a tinge of blessing in disguise. That is, I need not detour into office specially tomorrow (Saturday) to complete the cheque for Huber’s that Boss asked me to. Teehee. Not a good thing as a matter of fact though. I cannot meet the CG for lunch, then to do the filming for Pst’s birthday video, then queue with the CG (probably the first and last time the whole CG would queue together!). Sigh.

There’s pretty much alot that I don’t wanna be here.

First, it’s my FIRST time in my life staying overnight in a hospital as a patient.

Second, well I’ve heard a fair share of hospital horrors. And it didn’t help that lights went off at around 12midnight, both ward and corridor lights. I’ve seen nothing so far. So am I not ready to encounter such stuffs like what Pst Kong has mentioned before? If so, I hope God keeps it this way. Lols.

Third, even if I am not having appendicitis, dad and mom is so not gonna allow me to church. I’ve already missed CG meeting! Plus, I requested to Lili not to let me do training this week cos it’s been seriously AGES since I joined the CG before and after service. Yet this happened. >.<

Fourth, from the moment the doctor at the polyclinic said I’m referred immediately to A&E, to the A&E doctor saying I’ve to be admitted for observation, to being put on drip, to having some medication stuffed into my ass to let me empty my bowels, to forcing the drip back into my veins cos it stopped (which totally hurt), ITS ALL SCARY! Placing a brave-not-scared front to mom (she accompanied me throughout) and dad (who hung around at the cafeteria) to make them less worried, isn’t easy. Their worried faces made me feel really irritated I had to be hospitalized and make them worried.

Fifth, I haven’t eaten the entire day. When I am finally hungry, it was the time I’m about to go on drip thus no food, or drinks! Torturous without any water. Aircon is freaking cold and a blanket that is wonderfully thin to go with, had to request for another blanket. Maybe it’s the hospital bed and pillow, I couldn’t get to sleep for long. Tossed and turned for almost 2 hours, I gave up. So here I am blogging.

Oh goodness, I’m whining. Hahaha. But I feel better. Think I’ll try to catch some sleep. By faith, I’m praying everything will turn out just fine! And that I can go service! Don’t wanna doze off during sermon, so goodnight all! 😀

Brand new month

August 3, 2009 at 12:36 pm (faith, miscellaneous)

I’ve been terribly lazy the past few months, be it for work or for anything other matters.

I’m gonna take this brand new month as an opportunity to rid of the laziness! No more snoozing 1-2hours, no more hesitating doing something, no more putting off doing certain matters and so on!

I HAVE FAITH I CAN!

And, I’ll start from today! 😀

Poh “The Miracle Man”

November 4, 2008 at 2:34 pm (faith, miscellaneous)

caught this article on the church website, thought poh was really fabulous to be super full of faith to be up and doing what he has always been doing so soon when he has just recovered not too long ago! anticipating the new songs from him and the band to come!  go brother poh, the church is behind you and the band! (:

Teo Poh Heng, or Poh, as he is affectionately known, has been one of the faces of City Harvest Church (CHC) for the last 18 years. One of the anchor worship leaders, his exuberance and energy inspires the congregation week after week as he leads the people in praise and worship.

On 2 April 2008, Poh was doing what he had always been doing when an extreme accident happened to him on stage, one that caused the congregation to miss seeing him for half a year. Few people knew that Poh had a really close shave with death by electrocution on stage during a mission trip.

“We were at a meeting in Jakarta,” he recalls. “At the end of the meeting, Pastor Kong turned to me and said, ‘Poh, let’s sing a closing song’. I walked to the microphone stand and proclaimed ‘Hallelujah!’ as the musicians started playing. Then I placed my two hands on either side of the microphone to start singing. The moment I did that, I felt a great jolt surge through my hands. I was shocked and took a step backwards.

Then I felt nothing in my arms; I was totally numb from my hands to my shoulders. I knew then that something was wrong with the mircophone and I did not want to touch it anymore. I turned to Ally (worship leader Allison), who was standing next to me and told her to pass me her microphone. I grabbed onto it as tightly as I could as I had lost all sensation by then. As I sang, I slowly began to feel pain stretching from my shoulders to my palms. I finished the song and as the meeting closed, I was rushed to the hospital.”

When asked why he continued singing instead of going downstage immediately when the accident happened, he replied matter-of-factly, “I had already given the command to sing the song, the music had started, the people were ready to sing. I had to finish the song.” Only a true professional and someone who puts others before himself would have acted this way.

“We are talking courage here. He not only pushed through the pain and persevered that night, he stayed positive and upbeat throughout his recovery and therapy. For someone who almost lost his life on stage, to come back so soon and lead in faith is really something,” says CHC’s music director David Yem.

The moment Poh came back to Singapore, he went straight for an operation as his right shoulder had suffered a linear fracture due to the electric shock. Since then, he has been recuperating and going for his physiotherapy sessions twice a week. Doctors have advised him to swim regularly to strengthen his arm muscles. During this period he also spends time praying and reading the Bible, and as he puts it, encouraging himself in the Lord, “just like David did in the book of Psalms.”

“My orthopedic surgeon is not a Christian, but he was telling me that I am very blessed because I could have easily lost my life as the electric shock actually passed through my heart. Coming away from that with just a linear fracture in the shoulder is a miracle! So every time I go for my appointment at his clinic, he will tell his nurses, the ‘Miracle Man’ is here,” laughs Poh.

Now that he is slowly making a comeback, we will see more of Poh onstage. His first priority is to prepare himself for the coming Asia Conference. Poh is believing that the meetings will make a great impact on the people coming from different parts of the world. He is also currently working on some new songs with the band and getting back into the swing of things in his job as an Assistant Music Director.

As colleague and songwriter KC Gan says, “Poh’s commitment and dedication is exemplary for the music team. I am glad he is back in action.”

The congregation in City Harvest is glad that Poh is back too, many having written to the church office to congratulate him on his speedy recovery. For that, Poh would like to thank everyone who has prayed for him during this time.

The next time you see Poh on stage, let faith arise in your heart as you sing, because this is one “Miracle Man” who is a living testament of God’s power and love!

power of visualization

October 27, 2008 at 5:56 pm (faith, spiritual)

working at 5 but woke up at 2plus with a painful strain on the left side of the stomach. curled like a ball for almost half an hour to no avail of feeling better.

remembered Pst preaching on the power of visualization. thus i kept visualizing and having the faith that i have no pain and i am perfectly fine to stand straight and walk etc.

amazing God i have, the pain reduced and i managed to get up to bathe. continued visualizing while bathing, felt so much difference!

actually told kenneth i’ll rest more and start work at 7 instead, but feeling so much better, i reached bunk at 1650, to seetoh and jielin’s amazement. the look they had made me feel so victorious.

hallelujah jehovah rophe~
